Tiny shark hat – Free crochet pattern

Jul 11, 2013

How to make a tiny shark hat.
Inspired by the French version of Innocent’s “The big knit” (in UK and Ireland) or “Das Große Stricken” (Germany)
In France, Innocent collects tiny knitted/crocheted hats to put on their bottles, and for each bottle sold with a hat, they will give 0.20€ to Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly.

Round 12 : [sl st, ch, (2 dc, ch 2, sl st) in next st, sl st ] 10 times.
Weave the ends in.

Eyes:

Round 1 : With black yarn, make a magic ring and work 6 sc in the ring. Change color : with white yarn (leave a length of about 50 cm / 19.7″ or so before starting to crochet), join with sl st in first dc — (6 sts)
Round 2 : ch, 2 sc in each sts around, join with sl st in first dc — (12 sts)
Leave enough yarn to sew the eye to the body.
Now, using the length of white yarn we left aside, we’ll use surface crochet to hide the color change.
(The red arrows show where to insert your hook.)

If the pupil seems hidden beneath the white yarn around just push gently the white yarn with your fingernails.
Make another eye.

Assembling :

Start with the dorsal fin.

Weave in all ends.
You’re done ! ♥
